Owosso man arrested for illegally modified rifle

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Law enforcement in Owosso arrested a man for possessing a modified weapon in violation of federal law on Wednesday.

Police arrested Mack Adam Davis, 21, following an incident that occurred earlier this week on Monday morning, where the Owosso Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the 800 block of Lyon St. No one was injured.

Upon further investigation, OPD determined that the gunfire originated from Davis’ bedroom and obtained a search warrant for his residence. They recovered an illegally shortened .22 caliber rifle and other firearms.

Davis appeared before a federal judge in Flint on Wednesday who ordered him detained following a criminal complaint regarding the firearms obtained from his residence.

A criminal complaint does not constitute an indictment, nor can a trial be held on felony charges in a complaint alone.

Davis’s next court hearing will be a preliminary examination on July 8.
