Pedestrian critically injured after being struck vehicle

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A pedestrian was sent to the hospital Thursday night after being hit by a car in the Skyline neighborhood, authorities said.

According to the San Diego Police Department, a 20-year-old man was driving a 2005 Lexus IS350 northbound in the 100 block of S Meadowbrook Drive around 8:30 p.m.

For reasons still under investigation, the driver struck a pedestrian who was reportedly in the lane of traffic, police said.

The pedestrian, a man of unknown age, was transported to a local hospital with trauma to the head and body. His injuries are considered life-threatening.

Fault has yet to be determined, police said.

Traffic Division officers responded to the scene and are handling the investigation. Alcohol was reportedly not a factor in the collision.
