Pedestrian struck by COASTER train in Carlsbad

CARLSBAD, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A person was fatally struck by a North County Transit District train in Carlsbad late Wednesday night, authorities said Thursday.

Shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday, a pedestrian was reportedly trespassing in the right of way near the Carlsbad Village COASTER station when they were hit.

Pedestrian injured in early morning crash

A spokesperson for the district said the tracks were closed for the emergency response and investigation. As of Thursday morning, the tracks and train station were back open, and train service has resumed.
