Penn Highlands foundation awards $78K to college for scholarships

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – Pennsylvania Highlands Community College Foundation has presented the school with a $78,000 donation for the Supporting Scholars Fund.

The funding will be spread amongst three scholarships that'll be presented to 16 high school senior – the destination graduation award; emerging leader funding; and presidential scholarship.

This is the second time the college foundation has collected money for the scholarship program, which previously provided money to students out of the school's annual operating expense budget.

Startups scramble to assess fallout from Evolve Bank data breach
On Wednesday, Evolve Bank and Trust, a financial institution that’s popular with fintech startups, announced that it had been victim of a cyberattack and data breach that could have affected its partner companies as well. The incident, according to the company's statement, involved “the data and personal information of some Evolve retail bank customers and financial technology partners’ customers.” When reached by TechCrunch, Evolve's communications chief Thomas Holmes said that the incident involves “a known cybercriminal organization.”
