Authorities: Pennsylvania beheading suspect had ‘no history of diagnosed mental health issues’
During a press conference on Friday, Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn provided new details in the arrest of Justin Mohn, who is suspected of killing and beheading his father, Michael Mohn. Schorn told members of the press that the younger Mohn had “no history of diagnosed mental health issues” and purchased the firearm believed to have been used in the killing one day prior to his father’s death.

JENNIFER SCHORN: On Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 6:59 PM, the Middletown Township Police Department was dispatched to a death investigation. While en route, they received updated information that an elderly male had been found in the bathroom with a large amount of blood and that his head had been decapitated.
The victim has been identified as Michael Francis Mohn, who was 68 years of age. He resided at that residence with his wife and his adult son. He was a federal employee with the Army Corps of Engineers.
The victim's white Toyota Corolla and his adult son, Justin Daniel Mohn, were missing from the residence. Police were advised of a YouTube video depicting Justin Mohn holding the severed head of his father. It is titled "Mohn's Militis." It's a call to arms for American patriots.
The video appears to be taken in the same bedroom of the home where bloody gloves were found. During the video, Justin Mohn advises that he is giving the following order for all militia and Patriots across the USA to kill federal employees.
The suspect's phone was pinged and it was, again, an outstanding effort by law enforcement to work in such a expeditious fashion, pinging the defendant's phone and identifying his location. It was determined that the location was showing at Fort Indiantown Gap, a National Guard Training Center in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania.
Justin Mohn was taken into custody. The defendant stated he went to Fort Indiantown Gap in an effort to mobilize the PA National Guard to raise arms against the federal government. He also indicated that he wanted to speak to Governor Shapiro to join forces.
This investigation, again, I can't speak more highly of the work that was done by my colleagues and fellow members of law enforcement. They identified the fact that the defendant purchased a firearm the day before murdering his father. The defendant is a graduate from Neshaminy High School and Penn State main campus.
He previously worked and lived in Colorado, working for a contractor for Microsoft Corp. He's currently unemployed. He has no history of diagnosed mental health issues, and there are presently no 302s or 201s in his history.
