PGA Tour ushers in new era for Palm Beach County's Cognizant golf tournament
Change is never easy. It’s an awkward transition from the past to the present, often wrought with questions and uncertainty about the future. The Honda Classic was a beloved event in Palm Beach County for over 50 years, bringing together the thrill of PGA TOUR golf and a commitment to the South Florida community. When Honda opted out of its title sponsorship, the future of the event was brought into serious question amidst declining local partnerships and fan attendance.
That harsh reality set in motion a series of events which have brought us to where we are today. First, the PGA TOUR’s Championship Management division was brought in run the tournament, ensuring a clean slate from which to construct a bright future for success. Second, Cognizant came on as title sponsor through 2030, marking a commitment to that future while confirming this staple on the global golf calendar would remain in Palm Beach County for years to come. The Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches is not just a name, it’s a step towards building a championship this community can take immense pride in.
In 2024, the plan was to put on a great tournament during a time of transition and prepare to build for the future based on our learning and feedback from players, partners and fans. In 2025, we will implement what we learned, ensuring everyone is treated to an elevated experience put forth by a team based here in Palm Beach County.

Our team is focused on integrating the community’s character into every facet of the tournament, with vibrant colors, exclusive food and drink offerings, and fashion-forward merchandise throughout the course and fan shop.

Outside the ropes, community impact remains our North Star. The Cognizant Classic is dedicated to continuing this legacy with a strong commitment to philanthropy, including $6.5 million being distributed within the county in 2024. So, to answer the question, “Are you committed?” Emphatically, yes.
