Photos, videos of Jacksonville's Main Street Bridge lit with rainbow colors for Pride Month

As Pride Month enters its last week many are reflecting on this month's top moments, with Florida kicking off the month on a high note.

Before the month even technically started, dozens of people lined the pedestrian walkway of Jacksonville's Main Street bridge on May 31 with multi-colored flashlights to showcase a rainbow.

The display came after the Florida Department of Transportation declared all state bridges must be lit red, white, and blue all summer long for Gov. Ron DeSantis’s "Freedom Summer." So local members of the LGBTQ+ community decided to make their own display.

Whether the bridge lighting was just a celebration of Pride Month or a protest of the state's decision was up to attendees, according to organizers. They told the Florida Times-Union it was a great turnout, noting it was a fun way to show the community that they still stand strong.
