Police: 2 suspects charged in fatal Southeast Side 'ambush' shooting of Jahaan Harris

Columbus police have arrested one person and charged another in connection with the fatal "ambush" shooting of a man who was found at a Southeast Side gas station.

Danielle Hardy, 35, of the West Side, was arrested Thursday and charged with murder and multiple counts of felonious assault, according to court records.

An affidavit filed by police accuses Hardy and others of coordinating with each other to follow a group of individuals walking from Noe-Bixby Road onto Refugee Road.

Around 1:40 a.m. June 14, Hardy and others were following the group, which included Jahaan Harris, 25, through the Amberly Square Apartments on Brandy Drive, court records say.

When Harris and the others in his group reached a certain point, Hardy and several other shooters opened fire on the group, police alleged in court records. Harris was hit at least once in the back. He was found at a gas station on Noe-Bixby Road, and paramedics took him to a nearby hospital, where he died a short time later.

Court records show police have also charged D'Angelo Gravely, 28, of the Northeast Side, in connection with the shooting. Gravely was not yet in custody, as of Friday morning.

Authorities ask anyone with information on the shooting or Gravely's location to call detectives at 614-645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS. All calls to Crime Stoppers are anonymous.
