“Two motorcycles likely traveling at a high rate of speed lost control and crashed; one struck a vehicle and both slid a significant distance,” the police department said in a post on Facebook.

Two people were driving and there was one passenger on the motorcycles, and all three were taken to a hospital.

The passenger was a 17-year-old who police said was in critical condition.

The father of one of the riders told FOX31 that all three were wearing helmets at the time of the crash. Police later confirmed this.

The CCPD traffic unit is investigating. The Colorado Department of Transportation said the I-270 was closed in the area but the road has since reopened.

No further information was immediately available, but this article will be updated as FOX31 learns more.
