Man dies after officer-involved shooting at car wash in El Paso’s Upper Valley

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A man is dead after an officer-involved shooting Tuesday morning, March 5 at a car wash in El Paso’s Upper Valley, El Paso Police Department’s Public Information Officer Adrian Cisneros said.

Cisneros said at around 1 a.m. an officer said he was checking a subject in a vehicle at a car wash located on 5830 Doniphan Dr.

During that encounter, the officer discharged his weapon and the subject died at the scene, Cisneros said.

The individual was described to be an Hispanic male approximately 30 years old.

The Crimes Against Persons Unit, Internal Affairs, Shooting Review Team, and Texas Rangers are investigating the case.

Cisneros said there is currently no danger to the public and the area will be closed for the next couple of hours.
