Pontiac Township High School's drama club ready to perform 'The Music Man!'

Pontiac Township High School's theater stage will be filled with music and love this weekend as “The Music Man!” will be performed.

The Pontiac Township High School's spring theater production is a classic that has hit many high school and community stages for decades.

Set in the early 1900s in fictitious River City, a slick, traveling salesman named Harold Hill tries to entice residents of the small Iowa small community into purchasing instruments and uniforms for the creation of a boys' band. On top of that, Hill says he will be the director.

Hill's plans, which are less than honest, get detoured when the local librarian, Marian Paroo who is also versed in music, appears. A love story develops over time between Hill and Marian.

Among the popular songs are "Seventy-Six Trombones", "Shipoopi" and "Till There Was You”.

Harold Hill is portrayed by Daniel Bradshaw and Marian Paroo is played by Olivia Yedinak.

Also making up the cast are Blauren Russow (Alma Hix), Jalene Woolford (Amaryllis), Brett Blakeman (Charlie Cowell), Sam Murphy (Constable), Samantha Myers (Ethel Toffelmier), Emma Donze (Eulalie Shinn), Jaxen Paine (Ewart Dunlop), Lily Fetgatter (Gracie Shinn), Isaac Yedinak (Jacey Squires), Levi Rients (Marcellus Washburn), Sherrylee Bray (Maud Dunlop), Devin Skrzypiec (Mayor Shinn), Elena Krause (Mrs. Paroo), Avery Butler (Mrs. Squires), Colin Kristich (Olin Britt), Elijah Hartke (Oliver Hix), Henry Yedinak (Winthrop), Maddie Grampp (Zaneeta Shinn), Logan McCabe (Tommy Djilas), Nia Eggleston (Library Dancer), Megan Wiechmann (Library Dancer), Kellan Everett (Newspaper Reader), Riley Machroli (Newspaper Reader), Bailey Tickle (Newspaper Reader), Laila Bekirovski (Salesperson), Kole Donze (Salesperson) and Hudson Simmons (Salesperson).

Making up the Chorus are Annabell Baker, Emma Bolen, Grasey Cool, Nola Dial, Elisa Ewing, Kayla Finedore, Kylie Hall, Theresa Heger, Kori Johnson, JoAna Leiter, Jaden Lucas, Jz'Ryiah Marks, Mallory Masching, Kat Mercer, Haylie Moss, Grace Murphy, Lilian Rainbolt, Addisonn Shaw, Hailey Shelton, Ava Tickle, Mickey Travis, Holli Vuong, Mariah Wallis, Nola Zehr and Natalie Zimmerman.

Members of the tech crew are Shannon Law (Spotlight Operator), Jake Davis (Sound Coordinator), Liz Paulson (Backstage Manager) and Lily Raby (Light Coordinator).

It is directed by Joseph Durbin with musical direction by Scot Schickel. Beth McCleary will accompany the pit orchestra on piano.

Performances are on March 15 and 16 at 7 p.m. and a special matinee will take place on March 18 at 3 p.m., at the Pontiac Township High School Auditorium.

Ticket prices at $12 for adults and $8 for students. The auditorium is an accessible venue for all.
