Prayer vigil held for Ville Platte mother who’s been missing for nearly a week

VILLE PLATTE, La. (KLFY)– It’s been nearly a week since anyone saw a Ville Platte mother. The missing woman, Keabreonna Doucet, 27, was last seen leaving her home on Saturday. As the seventh day of the search for her approached, her family held a prayer vigil, hoping to bring her home.

“We’ve been searching in the city. We’ve been searching everywhere day and night,” Renee Griffith, her cousin, said.

According to the family of Doucet, or Keke, she left her home on West Live Oak Street around 9 a.m. Saturday morning. She was supposed to bring her daughter to a basketball game at 10 a.m., but she never showed.

“She misses her mom. She just wants to hear from her mom,” Griffith added.

That was the first red flag for Doucet’s family.

“It’s unlike her. Keke is always on social media where she’s posting pictures, enjoying with friends, always out and about. So not coming or calling is unusual for her,” Griffith told News 10.

Doucet’s family said they checked her phone’s location later on Saturday. It showed her phone was at Chief Romeo Hargrove City Park. It’s less than a mile from her home. After that, they said the phone was turned off, and it hasn’t come back on since.

While her family has no other leads, they do have hope.

“We are hoping, and we have faith in God that she will return home safe, alive and well, where she’ll be able to raise her daughter,” Griffith said.

Her loved ones are hoping their prayers can reach Doucet.

“If you’re watching, we ask that you come home. If you can call, reach out to someone, even if it’s a friend, please come home. Just come home,” Griffith added.

“Come home,” Keke’s aunt, Kimberly Doucet said. “We’re searching day and night for you.”

If you have any information on Doucet’s whereabouts, contact Ville Platte police.
