Presentation of Rolling Mill Mine disaster set for Sunday

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – "Light Low: The Rolling Mill Mine Disaster of 1902" will be presented at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Heritage Discovery Center, 201 Sixth Ave. in the Cambria City section of Johnstown.

The July 10, 1902, blast in the Johnstown coal mine and the deadly gases released in its aftermath killed 112 miners.

Nicholas Lasinsky and Barbara Zaborowski will give an illustrated presentation on the disaster, which at the time was the single greatest loss of life in a Pennsylvania mine. There is no fee to attend.
