Presidential primary voting concludes Tuesday in Georgia, Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Tuesday across Georgia is election day in the presidential primaries.

Polling locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. In Columbus, 25 precincts across the city open.

There have been four polling place changes since the 2022 elections.

The following new polling locations will be in operation Tuesday:

— INC Columbus at 2324 Frances Street replaces Wynnton United Methodist Churchv location. INC Columbus is located next to the church.

— Gateway Chruch at 6650 Buena Vista Road is new location for Holsey Chapel voters.

— The Cunningham Center at 3100 Gentian Boulevard on Columbus State University’s main campus replaces Elizabeth Bradley Turner Center, also on main campus.

— The new Mount Pilgrim Church at 409 Ford Drive replaces the old Mount Pilgrim location that has been demolished.

Much of the advance voting took place at the City Services Center on Macon Road. There will be no voting there on election day. All ballots have to be cast at your assigned precinct.

The only races on the ballot in Muscogee County will be the Democratic and Republican presidential primaries. When you show up to vote, you will have to ask for either a Democratic or Republican ballot.

During the three-week advance voting period that ended Friday, about 5,700 people voted in Columbus. That is out of 135,000 registered voters, according to Director of Elections and Registrations Nancy Boren.

Over in Harris County, residents will also be voting on The Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax this Tuesday. SPLOST is a 1% tax the county hopes to use for various county and city projects. You can find more information on our previous story.
