Public info meeting Tuesday night on Keweenaw Heartlands Project

ALLOUEZ, Mich. (WJMN) — A community information meeting will be held Tuesday night by The Nature Conservancy to discuss its management of 32,000 acres of forest on the Keweenaw Peninsula.

TNR and representatives from the Department of Natural Resources will be at the Allouez Township Community Center to discuss transferring management of the land to the DNR and local municipalities. The meeting will run from 6-7:30 p.m.

In 2022, TNC purchased more than 32,000 acres of forest in Keweenaw County to ensure long-term protection of a healthy, working forest and public access to the forest and recreational trail networks.
