Rape Crisis Center set to open in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce announced the grand opening of a new office for the Rape Crisis Center of Horry and Georgetown Counties.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place March 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 1293 Professional Drive, Suite C, in Myrtle Beach to celebrate the opening.

The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce said the event will kickstart Sexual Assault Awareness month which starts April 1.

The goal of the Rape Crisis Center is for the community to be free of sexual assault. The center provides survivors with the proper tools to heal and also provides sexual assault education, intervention, and advocacy to foster a safe and healthy community, according to a release by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce.

Those present for the ceremony will be able to enjoy light refreshments while touring the new office. Attendees will also be able to talk with the staff, board members, and other volunteers to learn more about the center’s mission, the release said.
