It’s a big weekend for classic-car fans, as the mammoth Spring Turkey Run rolls into Daytona International Speedway.

During the three-day event, unfolding from Friday-Sunday, the track’s immense infield will be jammed with classic and custom cars, a multitude of the gearheads who love them and every imaginable automotive accessory from toggle switches to tailpipes.

In addition to the display of more than 5,000 collectible vehicles, daily events include a massive swap meet as well as an array of vendors with art and fashion items tailored to the four-wheel crowd.

On Sunday’s closing day, a highlight is the annual 2 p.m. Classic Car Parade Lap around the Speedway track. For those with classic cars entered at the event, it’s included in the participant fee.

It runs from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday.

Daily admission is $15 on Friday and Saturday; $10 on Sunday, with general admission tickets now available online. Tickets also may be purchased on event days at the Speedway gate, 1801 W. International Speedway Blvd., Daytona Beach.

Volusia farmers, food featured at Fairgrounds

Local farmers and the tasty crops they produce will be in the spotlight at the annual Taste of Volusia event on Saturday at the Volusia County Fairgrounds in DeLand.

Sponsored by the Volusia Farm Bureau, the event offers an opportunity to meet area farmers and ranchers, learn about what they produce and how to buy directly from them. There will be a “small bites” sampler tour as well as music by popular local singer Reed Foley.

In a new wrinkle this year, there also will be a Tater Tot Kid’s Zone with activities for youngsters.

It runs from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the Tommy Lawrence Arena at the fairgrounds, 3150 E. New York Ave., in DeLand.

Eaglepalooza soars at Embry-Riddle

A lineup of nationally known and local acts will power the inaugural Eaglepalooza music festival slated for Saturday on the campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach.

Presented by event promoter Touch-N-Go Productions, the fest will feature performances on two stages by rappers Waka Flacka Flame, Chri$tian Gate$, singer-songwriter Christian French, singer Wolfcut and pop band Hot Chelle Rae.

The festival is the kick-off event for ERAU’s big “Blue & Gold Week” celebration. Admission is free for those with a university-issued Eagle Card or alumni card. For others, tickets are $20 advance, $25 day of show. The event runs from 3-9:30 p.m. Saturday.

Hop over to Edgewater Easter Eggstravaganza

It’s not quite Easter yet, but the City of Edgewater is getting a jump on the holiday festivities with its EdgeFest Easter Eggstravaganza on Saturday at Hawks Park Ballfields, behind the Southeast Volusia Family YMCA at 148 W. Turgot Ave., in Edgewater.

There will be more than 15,000 decorated eggs hidden across the four ball fields, which will be divided according to age groups. The Easter Bunny also will be there for a meet-and-greet, along with food vendors and an assortment of musicians and other entertainment.

Gates open at 10 a.m., with the egg hunting to commence at 11. Free admission.

In Flagler, more Easter fun

Not to be outdone, there’s also an Easter Egg’stravaganza on Saturday at Central Park in Town Center in Palm Coast.

It features arts and crafts, balloon art, face painting, refreshments, carnival games and pictures with the Easter Bunny.

An array of area organizations will offer children’s activities and present youngsters with eggs for participating in them. There will be chances to win more eggs at a carnival midway.

It’s free admission, with carnival midway tickets and commemorative photos available for purchase at the event. Hours are 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.
