Remy Ma has responded to news of her 23-year-old son, JaySon Scott, being charged with murder.

The Bronx-bred rapper released a statement via TMZ in support of her first-born, insisting that proper legal protocol should “reveal the truth.”

“We stand by JaySon’s innocence and pray that the NYPD will conduct a complete and thorough investigation to reveal the truth. This is undoubtedly a difficult time for my family and me. While we sincerely appreciate the love and support we have received from all of you, we kindly ask for privacy as our legal team works to prove JaySon’s innocence.”

She continued, “As his mother, I want to address this situation personally but have been strongly advised by his legal counsel not to say anything — as most people in similar situations are informed by their attorneys due to it being an active case.”

JaySon is represented by attorney Dawn Florio in the controversial case where he stands accused of murdering a Queens, NY man alongside alleged accomplice, 22-year-old Richard Swygert.

Victim Darius Guillebeaux, 43, was shot in the head and chest in broad daylight on June 7, 2021. The motive behind the shooting is still unclear, with investigators looking into the possibility that it was a murder for hire job. In addition to first-degree murder charges, the two alleged culprits were also hit with charges of criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.

The charges arrive one decade after the “Conceited” rapper was released from prison herself following a six-year bid. She was found guilty of intentional assault after shooting a member of her entourage over $3,000 in 2007, according to The New York Times. Her 2014 release was followed by the rapper joining the cast of Love & Hip Hop, dropping her Plata O Plomo collab album with Fat Joe, and welcoming her youngest, daughter Reminisce, with husband, Papoose.
