Roaches found at multiple Fort Worth restaurants, 5 closed for serious health violations

Five Fort Worth restaurants were closed for serious health violations, including roaches, during June 2-15 inspections, according to data from the city compiled by the Star-Telegram.

Cicis Pizza at 1408 Eastchase Parkway scored 18 on June 11 and was closed by the city due to no hot water. Fruit flies were also seen in the back area and some employees hadn’t completed an accredited food handler course.

La Nueva Riograndense at 4241 McCart Ave. scored 22 on June 10 and was closed due to the large amount of flies found in the establishment.

Paul’s Donuts Subs and Gyros at 1324 Hemphill St. scored 30 on June 4 and was closed by the city for unsanitary conditions. Inspectors found heavy food debris on equipment, floors and walls. Heavy organic matter was found in the ice machine and dead roaches were found in the restroom, dry storage and walk-in cooler drain.

Paul’s Donuts Subs and Gyros scored 19 during a follow-up inspection on June 5 and was allowed to reopen.

Thailicious at 4601 West Freeway scored 28 on June 5. Inspectors found live roaches and flies and were found inside the establishment. The restaurant scored a 4 on June 6 and was allowed to reopen.

Un Rinconcito Latino at 800 N.W. 25th St. scored 23 on June 7. No hot water was available at the establishment, and the city ordered them to close until the problem could be fixed.

Two restaurants scored over 30. Restaurants that receive more than 30 demerits are required to immediately fix the most critical violations and start corrective procedures on all the other violations within 48 hours.

Taco Master at 4800 S. Hulen St. scored 33 on June 6. Inspectors found black residue inside the ice machine, some foods weren’t being held at a safe temperature and laundry soap was being used to wash dishes. The establishment scored 18 during a June 11 follow-up inspection, but roaches were found under one of the microwaves.

Taco Master at 7057 Ridgmar Meadow Road scored 32 on June 7. Some food wasn’t maintained at a safe temperature, several employees hadn’t completed an accredited food handler course or their certificate had expired and the inspector found multiple flies in the establishment. The facility scored a 10 at the June 12 follow-up inspection.

In addition to the locations mentioned above, inspectors found roaches at Guapo Taco at 301 S. Sylvania Ave., Macaluso’s Italian Restaurant at 2443 Forest Park Blvd. and Saffron Sky at 449 N. Beach St.

Flies or gnats were noted at multiple locations, including Braum’s at 6770 Bridge St., China One Express at 5529 James Ave., Discovery Village Assisted Living at 9901 N. Riverside Drive, Esther’s Express Kitchen at 2977 S. Precinct Line Road, EZ Stop at 2701 Green Oaks Road, Fiesta Mart at 421 W. Bolt St., Firebirds Wood Fired Grill at 2900 Amador Drive, Freebirds World Burrito at 9501 Sage Meadow Trail, Golden Chick at 4341 W. Risinger Road, Hopdoddy Burger Bar at 3101 Heritage Trace Parkway, Jason’s Deli at 9517 Sage Meadow Trail, Las Fuentes Taqueria at 2216 W. Seminary Drive, Mariscos Acapulco at 2201 W. Seminary Drive, Moe’s Cafe at 4705 River Oaks Blvd., Nana’s Kitchen at 7403 John T White Road, Ocean 7 Food Mart at 3540 Miller Ave., Paleteria La Super at 1122 E. Seminary Drive, Quick Stop at 2413 N.E. 28th St., Southern Classic Daiquiri Factory at 6751 Bridge St., Street Bowl Scratch Kitchen at 14150 Trinity Blvd., Taqueria Insurgentes at 6665 Randol Mill Road, Texas Grill and Burgers LLC at 2337 Gravel Drive, The Bangkok at 3529 Heritage Trace Parkway, Uncle Julio’s Mexican From Scratch at 9201 North Freeway, Wendy’s at 6716 Bridge St. and Whataburger at 3052 Golden Triangle Blvd.
