“The defendant admitted to being present at the scene with a 9mm firearm,” Thompson’s affidavit reads. “Additionally, the defendant stated that he fired three rounds in the directon of the complainant, striking the complainant in the leg.”

Police said the shooting happened at the city’s Juneteenth celebration and gunfire erupted after two groups got into a fight.

The newly released court documents explained the person Thompson is accused of shooting and injuring was one of the individuals in the group he was in a fight with. That victim is also 17-years-old.

“I felt it in my leg and I felt myself just sitting down, and my husband had to drag me to the emergency station, and my kids were behind me,” LaTonya Ray said.

She said the night was supposed to be a family affair, she attended the Juneteenth celebration with her husband and their three children.
