Sacramento Loaves & Fishes collects bottled water for the unhoused ahead of heat wave

(FOX40.COM) — In an effort to help unhoused residents stay hydrated and healthy during a stretch of hot weather, Sacramento Loaves & Fishes is accepting donations of sealed water bottles all day Friday.

The organization is hosting its water drive on June 21 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at its warehouse at 1351 North C St.

Organizers are asking the public to donate bottled water, preferably cases of 16 oz. bottles, so that these can be distributed to people experiencing homelessness.

Donation receipts will be available to anyone who donates bottled water, organizers said.

Temperatures on Saturday could reach above 100°F in the Sacramento area, and they will stay in the mid-90s and above for several days after.
