Sacramento man dies after crashing into door of pickup truck, CHP says

(FOX40.COM) — A motorcyclist died on Thursday night after crashing into a pickup truck in Sacramento, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Around 10:45 p.m. on Thursday, a 41-year-old man was driving his 1999 Dodge pickup truck along 16th Avenue heading east. CHP said the man “visually cleared the road, drove forward, and intended to make a left onto Stockton Boulevard heading north.”

At that moment, a man, 71 of Sacramento, was driving his 2004 Harley Davidson along Stockton Boulevard in south Sacramento when he crashed into the driver-side door of a 1999 Dodge pickup truck.

The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries but was later declared dead by medical staff.

CHP said alcohol and drugs are not believed to have played a role in the crash.
