SAHF donated over $200k to area nonprofits. Which ones received grants?

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The San Angelo Health Foundation has announced that it donated over $200,000 to nonprofit organizations in the area during its first quarter. Here’s what nonprofits got part of the money and what the funds went to.

Grants Committee Chair Carlos Rodriguez stated in the announcement that the foundation awarded $246, 118 to eight area nonprofits during the quarter. These awarded grants “encompass community impact, education, emergency response, health care, mental health, and youth development,” as per SAHF.

The foundation has provided over $67 million to 246 organizations since its inception in 1995.

According to SAHF, the nonprofits that received the grants, the amount of money they each were awarded and what the funds were spent on are as follows:

All-Tex Splash Pad Fund was awarded $50,000 to install community splash pads at Unidad and Kirby Park. This special project encourages physical activity, drives eco-friendly play initiatives and creates an enjoyable outdoor experience for everyone.

CV Biblical Counseling Center was awarded $20,000 for technology upgrades. The center provides faith-based counseling, pastoral care and ministry training. Counseling services include individual, marriage and family sessions.

East Concho Volunteer Fire Department was awarded $35,500 to purchase and install a wildland skid unit. Established in 1999, the department has 24 active volunteers and provides firefighting and emergency rescue services throughout northeast Tom Green County.

Eaton Hill Nature Center & Preserve was awarded $20,000 to build an outdoor primitive learning and discovery area. Located at the western edge of the Texas Hill Country and the eastern edge of the rugged Chihuahuan Desert, they offer 38 acres of spectacular views of Sonora, birding, hiking, picnic spots, and nature center tours.

Junction Community After School Program & Family Resource Center was awarded $75,000 to build a new facility to house its expanding after-school care program, clubs for middle and high school students and adult classes. The center’s mission is to “enrich and equip students to be successful academically and emotionally and to have the life skills needed to thrive in life.”

Sight Savers America — San Angelo Low Vision & Blindness Program was awarded $14,488 to secure high-tech vision aids for individuals with low vision. The program enables individuals to access the vision services needed to reach their fullest potential in the classroom, workplace and life.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace — San Angelo Chapter was awarded $7,130 to purchase materials to build beds, mattresses and bedding. Its mission is to ensure that “No Kid Sleeps on the Floor in Our Town.” The San Angelo chapter brings together community volunteers to construct and deliver fully furnished twin-size beds to children aged 3-17.

United Way of the Concho Valley, Inc. was awarded $25,000 for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. DPIL is designed to enrich the lives of children from birth to five years old, increase access to books and promote daily reading habits between caregivers and children.
