Salt Lake police seek SUV suspected in hit-and-run of 41-year-old woman

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — The Salt Lake City Police Department is on the search for an SUV they say was involved in a hit-and-run incident late last week.

Police said the alleged hit-and-run happened on Friday, June 14 just after 1:30 a.m. near 1400 South State Street. A woman was reported to be found on the ground in a nearby parking lot with serious life-threatening injuries.

During their investigation, SLCPD learned the driver of a light-colored Ford Explorer pulled into the parking lot and ran over the woman.

“Detectives believe the woman was already on the ground prior to the crash but was not previously injured,” SLCPD said in a statement. “Two people from the SUV got out and checked on the woman but got back in the SUV and left the scene.”

The woman was hospitalized and has since been recovering. Police said she remains in stable condition.

Detectives are searching for the SUV and the passengers inside. The Ford Explorer is described as being a newer model with a panoramic sunroom and chrome or silver wheels.

Anyone with information about the SUV, the crash, or the people associated with the SUV are asked to call the Salt Lake City Police Department at 801-799-3000 and reference case 24-130079.
