Seasonable temperatures move in; tropics become active

Columbus, Ga (WRBL)-The heat will subside for the next few days as a strong area of high pressure begins to move east. Expect high temperatures Tuesday through Thursday to reach the low 90s which is near average for this time of the year.

While significant rainfall chances remain low, a few stray showers are not out of the question for Tuesday and Wednesday. More sunshine and high clouds will move in just in time for the end of the week. The brief break in the heat will end by this weekend with highs back into the middle to upper 90s.

Tropics:
The tropics are active as we now have Potential Tropical Cyclone One in the Bay of Campeche. A Potential Tropical Cyclone is an area of low pressure that has yet to develop into a tropical disturbance but will bring tropical storm or hurricane conditions to an area within 24-48 hours.

This area of low pressure will eventually become Alberto, our first named system of the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane season as it tracks west into Mexico. Heavy rain, strong winds and flooding will be possible for southeast Texas, tropical storm watches in place along the Texas coastline.
