Second suspect arrested after death of Stillwater man

GLENCOE, Okla. (KFOR) – A second person has been arrested in connection to the death of a Stillwater man.

According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, the Noble County Sheriff’s Office requested the bureau’s help on September 4, 2023, regarding a missing persons case.

The OSBI, Payne County Sheriff’s Office, Stillwater Police Department and Noble County Sheriff’s Office began looking for 21-year-old Samuel Crawford.

Officials say an aerial search was done in Payne Co. on Sept. 8. While searching the area, parts of Crawford’s truck were found in Glencoe. A search warrant was executed which led to the discovery of a body, later identified as Crawford.

Later that day, 21-year-old Christopher Somers was arrested and booked into the Payne Co. Jail on charges of First Degree Murder, Desecration of a Human Corpse and Operating a Chop Shop.

As OSBI special agents continued their investigation, they interviewed 52-year-old Michael Ritter. Based on the information gathered, Ritter was arrested on May 28, 2024, and booked into the Payne Co. Jail on charges of First Degree Murder, Desecration of a Human Corpse and Operating a Chop Shop.
