Shooting at Arkansas grocery store kills 3, wounds 10 others, police say

FORDYCE, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas State Police say a shooter opened fire Friday at a grocery store, killing three people and wounding 10 others.

Officials said the shooting occurred around 11:38 a.m. at the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce.

Arkansas’ Department of Public Safety director said police shot the suspected shooter, who sustained injuries that were not life-threatening. Two law enforcement officers were among those shot, and neither have life-threatening injuries.

Video posted on social media showed at least one person lying in the parking lot. In another video, multiple gunshots could be heard.

During a press conference, Director of the Arkansas State Police Mike Hagar said the situation is contained and there is no active threat to the community.

The injuries to the two injured officers as well as the shooting suspect are not considered life-threatening injuries.

Arkansas State Police are leading the investigation and say a further news release is expected Friday evening.
