UPDATE: Two dead in Lake Pueblo shooting

UPDATE: FRIDAY 6/21/2024 9:30 a.m.

(PUEBLO, Colo.) — Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) said at 12:45 a.m. on Friday, June 21, officers got a call for help to the Sailboard Beach area of Lake Pueblo near the dam where people were fishing. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and found two people dead, and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation was called to assist in the investigation.

CPW said witnesses reported the suspect leaving the area. CPW does not believe there is a threat to visitors of the park, but at this time there is no suspect in custody.

The park is open but Sailboard Beach and the waters around the area are closed indefinitely during the investigation. CBI has taken over as the lead investigative agency.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) said it is working with the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) and Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate a shooting that has left two people dead at Lake Pueblo State Park’s Sailboard Beach area.

CPW said no suspect is in custody but believes that there is no threat to guests in the park.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) said an investigation of a shooting at Lake Pueblo State Park’s Sailboard Beach area is occurring on the morning of Friday, June 21.

On Friday, at around 2:50 a.m. CPW posted on X that officers were investigating a shooting in the Sailboard Beach area, and the beach area is closed at this time.
