Showers and storms Friday through the weekend
Friday morning is off to a partly to mostly cloudy start, with rain showers moving across eastern New Mexico and the far northern mountains. Moisture will continue streaming into the state today, with scattered showers and storms in eastern New Mexico all day. Isolated storms will develop in northwest NM and southwest CO this afternoon, moving east through the overnight hours. These storms may become severe, with damaging wind and hail as the main threats.

The storms will move into the Rio Grande Valley and northern mountains late in the evening, after 9 PM, bringing strong winds and heavy rain. Clouds and light, spotty showers will continue into Saturday morning. Saturday will be a partly to mostly cloudy day across New Mexico, with mountain storms in the afternoon, which will move southeast into the Valley and plains during the late afternoon and evening. Sunday will be similar. Temperatures will be cooler Friday, but will heat back up over the weekend.
