Will Smith will team up with Sony once more following the success of Bad Boys: Ride or Die for upcoming sci-fi thriller Resistor.
Based on the book Influx by Daniel Suarez, it tells the story of physicist Jon Grady and his team who discover a device that can reflect gravity, with the Bureau of Technology quickly shutting down their lab and burying the knowledge.
After Grady refuses to join the Bureau, he is thrown into a prison full of other rebel intellects who must expose the secrets of the group hoarding all of the technological advancements that give them the upper hand.
According to Deadline, Zak Olkewicz has penned a first draft of the script, with Eric Warren now writing the latest edition. The film will be produced by Dave Wilson as well as Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch and Tony Shaw of Escape Artists.

The news comes after Bad Boys: Ride or Die crossed the $100 million mark at the US box office. It has grossed more than $220 million worldwide and has taken the entire series past the $1 billion mark at the global box office.
Smith recently addressed a potential return to the Bad Boys franchise for a fifth film following the success of Ride or Die.
"Well, these younger actors are going to need to do more of the stunts, that's for sure," Smith joked. "It is a world and characters that are just an absolute joy to be with.
"In a movie theatre with Mike and Marcus, it just feels like home. So, as long as there's a reason – I never wanted to be one of those dudes who make sequels just because people will go."

Speaking alongside his co-star Martin Lawrence, Smith added he likes sequels if there is "something to say" and characters develop in a way that "will be interesting and fun to watch and maybe even a little helpful".
He continued: "Is there something that can happen in these characters' lives that is worth asking people to go to a movie theatre for? And with this movie, the answer is a resounding yes."
Bad Boys: Ride or Die is in cinemas now.
