Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office host DUI checkpoint on St. Patrick’s Day

(FOX40.COM) — Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office deputies are scheduled to host a ‘driving under the influence (DUI) checkpoint on Sunday, St. Patrick’s Day.

“The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) is prepared to stop and arrest any drunk driver they see to keep roads and community safe,” SCSO said. “Deputies have received specialized training for driving under the influence, as well as driving under the influence of drugs (DUID), which will help them identify and remove persons under the influence from our roadways.”

Why does California law enforcement announce DUI checkpoints?

The exact time and location of the checkpoint were not disclosed, however, officials said it would be “somewhere within the county.”

“Drunk drivers often face jail time, the loss of their driver licenses, higher insurance rates, and dozens of other unanticipated expenses ranging from attorney fees, court costs, having car towed, collision repair, and lost wages due to time off from work,” Stanislaus deputies said. “Even worse, a drunk driver can cause a traffic crash that claims someone’s life or even their own.”
