The detectives who ran the first investigation into the murder of Stephen Lawrence should not face criminal charges, a review has concluded.

A senior Crown Prosecution Service lawyer found that there was insufficient evidence to prosecute the four retired detectives, and none will therefore be charged, according to the BBC.

The decision upholds the CPS’s previous ruling.

Lawrence was killed in a racially motivated attack in Eltham, south-east London, in April 1993.
