The story behind that fire near the Bay County Jail in Panama City

PANAMA CITY — The Bay County Sheriff's Office said the fire that erupted Thursday morning outside a building near the county jail started in an outdoor trash can.

According to a sheriff's office press release, Bay County Fire and supporting agencies responded quickly to the scene of the old training building, which is next to the jail, 5700 Star Lane, Panama City.

The fire was put out just before 10 a.m. When the firefighters arrived, everyone in the building evacuated, and the building was covered in flames.
