Suspect arrested after 3 injured in stabbing near Dowagiac

SILVER CREEK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Deputies arrested the suspect in a stabbing near Dowagiac after he was found in a driveway late Friday night.

Around 11 p.m., deputies with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office were sent to Spring Lake Road after a woman reported that the suspect in a stabbing near Dowagiac was in her driveway.

Responding deputies found and arrested 28-year-old John Henry Coons of Dowagiac, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office had previously asked the public to keep an eye out for Coons after he allegedly stabbed a 73-year-old man, a 75-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man.

The two older victims were taken to the hospital, while the 31-year-old victim did not seek medical treatment, according to the sheriff’s office. The extent of their injuries is unknown.
