Actor Taylor Wily has died, aged 56.

Mr Wily’s death was confirmed by KITV 4 Island News in Hawaii.

Wily - whose real name was Teila Tuli - played the character Kamekona in CBS police procedural drama Hawaii Five-O for ten seasons between 2010 and 2020.

He reprised his role for seven episodes in Magnum, P.I.

His cause of death has yet to be disclosed.

A number of his friends and family took to social media to pay tribute.

Among them was Hawaii Five-0 and Magnum, P.I. executive producer Peter Lenkov.

Uploading a picture of himself and Wily to Instagram, he captioned the image: “I am devastated. Heartbroken. I’ll post some detailed feeling in a few days. Just too hard right now.”

Hailing him as his “brother”, he followed it up with a collage of pictures capturing some of his favourite memories of his late friend.

“T, as I told you many times, I fell in love with you at the first audition,” he penned. “You came in with a towel on your head mopping up sweat, and I was smitten. You charmed me into making you a regular… on the show… and in my life. You were family. And I will miss you every day, brother.

“PS: when we spoke last week, we laughed at how right you were from Day 1. Five-0 was our dream job. And I was so lucky we got to share that magic together.”

His sister Alyssa also shared a video of her and their family paying tribute to the Hawaiian star as they gathered on Thursday.

In it, she showed the family playing ball games and board games.

“Mourning and celebrating our favorite brother and uncle the way he would want us to," she captioned the clip on Facebook.

“Family, Food, Music and Good Vibes. Aurrrrrrighhhhh (in his voice).”

The Standard has contacted a representative for Taylor Wily for comment.
