UPDATE: Gulfport Police arrest teen accused of stabbing her mom

UPDATE (3:15 p.m.): News 5 is continuing to gather information about a stabbing that took place June 14 in Gulfport, Miss.

According to the Gulfport Police Department, the victim who was stabbed multiple times was the teenage suspect’s mother.

GULFPORT, Miss. (WKRG) — Gulfport Police Department officers arrested a teenager on June 14 after she allegedly stabbed a person and tried to light a house on fire.

According to the GPD Facebook page, the teen was arrested after officers were called to a home on Dee Avenue around 2:30 a.m. on June 14 and found a female with multiple stab wounds.

The post said the 15-year-old girl stabbed a female while she was asleep. The female reportedly woke up to find the teenager attacking her before the teen allegedly tried to set the house on fire.

“While being questioned by detectives, [the suspect] stated she had been planning to kill the victim because she found her to be a ‘weird b****’ and accused her of ‘suppressing the black in her,'” according to the post.

The teenager was charged with attempted murder and first-degree arson. She is being held on a $1,250,000 bond.
