Teen charged with driving stolen car recklessly through Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A teenager was taken into custody Thursday after he allegedly drove a stolen car recklessly through Nashville and hit a house.

The incident began around 1:40 p.m. when the Metro police helicopter saw a 2016 black Dodge Charger that had been reported stolen on Monday, June 17.

According to Metro police, the Charger was observed speeding, driving the wrong way into traffic and doing “burnouts” in the middle of an intersection.

The helicopter followed the Charger until it lost control at 16th Avenue North and Cockrill Street, where it hit a Toyota Corolla, fence and a house, according to court documents.

The driver, identified as 18-year-old Marcus Stanton, was taken into custody after he fled from the crash.

Stanton was booked into the Metro jail and charged with three counts of theft valued more at $10,000 but less than $60,000, evading arrest, reckless driving, driving on a suspended license, possession of burglary tools and leaving the scene of a crash. His bond was set at $85,450 and he has since been released.
