Teenager on bike, two motorists fatally injured in South Jersey crashes

A 14-year-old bicyclist and two motorists have died in recent accidents on South Jersey highways.

The youth, whose name was not released, was struck by a car while attempting to cross Route 38 near milepost 19.1 in Southampton, according to New Jersey State Police.

The youth, who was hit around 6:40 p.m. on June 14, died two days later, police said.

No injuries were reported for the driver, a 44-year-old woman from Browns Mills.

Also, motorists died in crashes on June 20 in Commercial, Cumberland County, and on June 15 in Winslow.

Victims from Millville, Camden

The June 20 accident occurred shortly before 9 p.m. at Highland Street and Steep Run Road.

Police alleged a trucker drove through a stop sign and struck an SUV driven by Brandy Woolson, 43, of Millville.Woolson was killed, and four children in her vehicle were injured, police said.

The children were a 2-year-old girl, two 4-year-old boys and a 16-year-old girl.

The trucker, a 55-year-old Port Norris man, had minor injuries.

In the third accident, Ashley Pitts, 39, of Camden was killed after her SUV sideswiped a disabled vehicle on right shoulder of the westbound Atlantic City Expressway.

The SUV overturned and Pitts was ejected near milepost 38.3.

Four people inside the disabled car received minor injuries in the 10:30 p.m. crash.

All of the accidents were under investigation.
