Town to get new roundabout ahead of new homes
A new roundabout costing £1.5m is to be built in Bridlington.
The four-armed roundabout will be built in Bempton Lane, near houses in Nostell Way.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council said work would start on 1 July. It expected work to be completed by January.
Adam Holmes, the council’s director of infrastructure and facilities, said the scheme was "necessary to cope with the traffic needing to access planned new housing developments".
To enable construction, Bempton Lane will be temporarily closed to traffic from September to January, with a break for Christmas.
A signed diversion route will be in place, with drivers encouraged to use Jewison Lane, Short Lane and Newsham Hill Lane.
Footpaths and a cycleway will also be created as part of the scheme, the council said.
