Authorities in Greece are looking for Michael Mosley, a popular television doctor known for his advice on dieting, who disappeared on one of the country’s islands.

The 67-year-old British national was reported missing on the island of Symi on Wednesday, June 5, according to a statement from the Hellenic Police, obtained by PEOPLE.

The search for Mosley was launched after the television presenter did not return from a hike that same day, according to The Telegraph and the Associated Press.

Mosley was last seen when he set off hiking along St. Nicholas Beach at 1:30 p.m. local time on Wednesday, The Guardian reported. His wife, Dr. Clare Bailey, contacted authorities around 7:30 p.m.

A senior security official involved in the mission said the television doctor was visiting friends on the island “where distances are short.”
