Two people charged for stealing from high school in Burke County: Sheriff

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Two people have been charged after breaking into a high school and stealing multiple items, according to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office.

On June 6, deputies investigated a larceny report at East Burke High School in Connelly Springs. It was reported that several items, including tools, were stolen from the agriculture department.

Investigators received a tip from a citizen that led to a search at 3931 East Burke Blvd. That’s about one mile away from the school.

Detectives saw tools and other items in the driveway that were consistent with what was reported stolen, officials said. More items and tools that were reportedly stolen were found in the yard. Authorities used a search warrant at the address and found even more stolen property in an outbuilding and inside the residence.

Jessie James Shull and Telitha Nicole Shull, both 35 years old, were arrested at the scene without incident. Both suspects were booked into the Burke County Jail under a $15,000 secured bond for felony possession of stolen property.

Officials say more charges could be coming pending the investigation.
