Two people found with multiple drugs in Morganton arrested

MORGANTON, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Two people have been charged with possession of multiple drugs, according to the Morganton Public Safety officials.

On Saturday, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an expired registration place and the registered owner’s license being suspended.

The driver, 51-year-old Angela Powell Carpenter, told officials she had crack cocaine in the vehicle.

During a search of the vehicle and the occupants, authorities found substances that tested positive for crack cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana. Drug paraphernalia and two firearms were also found in the vehicle, officials said.

Carpenter was charged with:

  • Possession of cocaine

  • Possession of methamphetamine

  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

  • Driving while license revoked

  • Expired registration

She’s being held without bond due to having 11 pending charges including multiple driving while license revoked charges, possession of a Scheduled 2 controlled substance, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The passenger, 65-year-old Clyde Oliver Crawford, is being held under a $35,000 secured bond for the charges of;

  • Possession of cocaine

  • Possession with intent to manufacture sell or deliver marijuana

  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

  • 2 counts of carrying a concealed firearm

Both Carpenter and Crawford have their first court appearance scheduled for March 4.
