Suspect identified in Gordon shooting, believed to be in North Florida

HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala (WDHN) — The search is on for a suspect accused of shooting two people in Gordon Tuesday night.

Major Bill Rafferty with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as Travis Dickson.

The shooting occurred around 8:00 p.m. in the 300 block of Tifton Road.

According to a release from the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, at around 8:00 p.m., Dickson shot two people inside a home in the 300 block of Tifton Road before setting a fire inside the house and fleeing in a red Dodge Charger. Major Rafferty told WDHN the shooting was a result of a domestic dispute.

Reports show the victims, a woman whom Dickson was in a relationship with and a female minor, were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The victim’s conditions are unknown at this time.

The HCSO release goes on to claim that after fleeing the scene, Dickson eluded an Ashford Police Officer by going nearly 130 MPH and abandoned the Dodge Charger at the Greentree Apartment Complex in Headland.

A friend at the apartment complex gave Dickson a 2018 Chevrolet Cruz and a cell phone, and he began driving to Tallahassee, Florida, According to the HCSO. Tallahassee Police later found the Chevrolet Cruz abandoned.

Dickson is currently wanted on two counts of attempted murder, one count of shooting into an occupied building, and one count of arson.
