Vegetation fire at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton was training-related, officials confirm

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Camp Pendleton has confirmed the weekend vegetation fire on base was training-related.

Reports of a vegetation fire came in Saturday afternoon after smoke was seen in the area of the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, according to the North County Fire District.

A spokesperson from Camp Pendleton confirmed to FOX 5/KUSI Sunday night two training-related fires were burning in the vicinity of Range 407 and Range 408. The fire on Range 407 began at 4:32 on Friday, while the fire on Range 408 started at 12:36 on Saturday.

Officials are assuring the public there is no treat to personnel or nearby structures.
