Very hot Thursday, heat advisory in effect

Very hot Thursday, heat advisory in effect

What We’re Tracking

  • Hot & humid for Thursday

  • Storm chance late Thursday

  • Continued hot into the weekend

Heat Advisory in effect for all counties in northeast Kansas from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday.

Starting off this morning on the warmer side with temperatures in the 70s. We have maintained a south wind throughout the overnight hours that continues to bring more moisture into the area. Dew points this morning are in the middle 60s.

Temperatures climb into the middle to upper 90s today. When you combine the higher humidity, heat indices on Thursday should range between 100°-105° for the afternoon hours. By evening a few thunderstorms move in as a weak front drops south through the area. After the front, the heat settles back a touch on Friday, but still very warm to hot weather through the weekend.

With high pressure becoming our dominant pattern for the week, rain chances are limited. We have that chance for a few isolated storms by Thursday night, possibly another storm or two over the weekend. Other than that, there will be lots of dry time.
