Volunteers renovate Joplin High School classrooms and gardens

JOPLIN, Mo. — Parts of Joplin High School received a facelift today thanks to James River Church’s ‘Saturday Serve’.

At 8:00 a.m., more than 80 volunteers from the church took on renovation tasks around Joplin High School.

Volunteers painted over 10,000 square feet of classrooms and hallways.

Another project includes replanting new rose buds in the school’s historic rose garden, which previously had diseased bushes.

Joplin Schools Superintendent, Kerry Sachetta, says he appreciates how much work the church has been putting into beautifying the school.

“Whether it’s our newer buildings like Joplin High, or our older buildings, our custodial staff does an excellent job and our maintenance crew of keeping, taking care of the facilities. But there’s a lot of work here, so when a group like James River, a church like James River comes in and provides extra support, we can’t thank them enough,” said Kerry Sachetta, Joplin Schools Superintendent.

“We’ve got families here, we’ve got kids and it’s just awesome to be able to come together to serve in our community. This is something we do every month at James River Church, we pick a different site, bring people together, we do projects to be a blessing to our community,” said Justin Jahanshir, James River Church Joplin Campus Pastor.

This is the 6th year the church has helped out with renovations across Joplin schools.
