Wanted New York man charged with trespassing at federal facility in Allenwood

Jun. 4—ALLENWOOD — A New York man with an active warrant for felony robbery was allegedly found trespassing at the United States Penitentiary in Allenwood on Monday, according to state police in Milton.

State Trooper B. Harvey, of the Milton State Police Barracks, reported that Alfredo Betances, 46, of New York City, was found trespassing at the penitentiary grounds at Main Access Road, Allenwood, at 7:45 a.m. Monday. He was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.

Betances has an active warrant out of the NYPD for felony robbery, police said.

He was arraigned for a charge of arrest prior to requisition. He was committed to Union County Jail where he awaits extradition, police said.
