WATCH: Around 100 first responders battle house fire in Northeast DC in heat wave

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Around 100 first responders were at the scene of a two-alarm fire in Northeast D.C. Friday afternoon, fighting flames and smoke in the midst of extreme heat.

The fire broke out in a home in the 5400 block of James Place. Officials said the fire most likely started from the back of the home before it traveled inside, to another nearby home and the attic.

DC Fire and EMS said in a post at 4:25 p.m. that crews had put out most of the fire.

Officials said neighbors came out and offered cold water to the “exhausted firefighters” who were at the scene of the house fire.

In a post at 5:47 p.m., DC Fire and EMS said the fire was under control but it had traveled to the third home in the row through the attic and roofline.

No injuries were reported.
