Andreas Brehme, the man who scored the winning goal for West Germany in the 1990 World Cup final, was buried in Munich on Tuesday.

His former club Bayern Munich said many prominent former team-mates attended the service including Lothar Matthäus and Jürgen Klinsmann.

Rudi Völler, who won the 1990 World Cup together with Brehme Klinsmann and Matthäus, gave a speech.

Giuseppe Bergomi, Nicola Berti, Aldo Serena and Alessandro Bianchi were among those who travelled from Italy, where Brehme spent four years with Inter Milan.

Brehme died of cardiac arrest on February 20 at the age of 63.

His 85th-minute penalty in Rome sealed a 1-0 win over Argentina in the 1990 final and came just a few months before Germany reunified.
