Whitley sheriff's office launches missing person investigation

Jun. 20—WILLIAMSBURG — The Whitley County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's assistance in finding a man who hasn't been seen for almost a week.

Justin Young, 33, was entered as a missing person after last being seen in the Devils Creek/Travis Trail areas last Friday, June 14, around 9 p.m.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Whitley County 911 Dispatch at 606-549-6017, or private message the Whitley County Sheriff's Department's Facebook page.

WCSO Lieutenant David Lassiter is in charge of the investigation.

Amid a fraught environment for battery startups, Sila has raised $375 million to finish construction of a U.S. factory that will scale its next-generation battery technology for customers like Mercedes-Benz and Panasonic by the end of 2025. Sila, formerly known as Sila Nanotechnologies, is slated to finish construction of its Moses Lake, Washington plant in the first quarter of next year, where the company will begin mass producing its branded Titan Silicon anode material. The all-equity Series G round – led by existing investors Sutter Hill Ventures with participation from Bessemer Venture Partners, Coatue, Perry Creek Capital and others – comes as other electric vehicle battery companies struggle to get products to market and stay afloat.

On Wednesday, Evolve Bank and Trust, a financial institution that’s popular with fintech startups, announced that it had been victim of a cyberattack and data breach that could have affected its partner companies as well. The incident, according to the company's statement, involved “the data and personal information of some Evolve retail bank customers and financial technology partners’ customers.” When reached by TechCrunch, Evolve's communications chief Thomas Holmes said that the incident involves “a known cybercriminal organization.”
